Retirement Almshouses
The Charity has 2 retirement almshouse sites in Worcester, one at Berkeley Court, The Foregate (7 flats) and one at Nash’s & Wyatt's in New Street (25 flats).
Each site has its own resident part-time warden who cover for each other. Every flat has a call alarm providing 24 hour cover. The flats are let on licence for which the residents pay accommodation charges.
These are popular peaceful havens, located in the heart of the city within walking distance of the city centre's shops and amenities. The accommodation comprises self-contained one bedroom flats and studio flats which are mostly occupied by one person living alone.
There is usually a waiting list. To join it please complete the application form. You will be eligible for consideration if:
- You live or have lived in Worcester City for more than 12 months
- You are retired, or near retirement age, or are unable to work again
- You are entitled to receive housing benefit
- Your present accommodation is inadequate and/or you are in need of an on site Warden for security, advice and support (actual care is not provided and on admission, you should be capable of living independently)
- You do not have substantial savings, or a property that could be sold, producing sufficient funds to buy somewhere suitable to enable you to meet your own needs
